Timothy had an even better night tonight. During the flag football camp at the end of the Wilson half, he was up against an obnoxious kid who kept trying to block/tackle/push Timothy. It's flag football, and there isn't supposed to be any contact. I was so proud of Timothy though. He pushed the kid right back. He stood up for himself. That's huge!! After this went on for a few plays, the high school kids finally broke it up and told the obnoxious kid to knock if off. Then, a few plays later, Timothy scored a touchdown. One of the high school boys threw an easy pass to Timothy in the end zone. He was so proud. His teammates all cheered and gave him high 5s.
For the second half of camp, the Wilson coaches were in charge again. Timothy did really well. He attempted every drill - even bear crawls. He was so proud of himself for trying everything. He just doesn't give up!! :)
Timothy is 12 years old and autistic. His journey began in 2013 when he attended the Philadelphia Eagles Huddle Up for Autism event. He became an Eagles fan for life. Just a few weeks later, he was assigned a new behavioral specialist who is also a football coach. He thought it would be a good experience for Timothy to play football. We spent months preparing him to be a part of the football team, and he is surpassing all of our expectations with his hard work, persistence, and dedication.
